Santorini islandSantorini, also knowns as Thera (or Thira, Fira) is a small archipelago that was formed by the volcanic activity in the Aegean Sea and part of the Cyclades group (Cyclades islands).
It is about 200 km southeast from Greece's mainland and is the southernmost island of the Cyclades with an area of approximately 73 km2 and a population of about fourteen thousands people.
Fira is also called the chief town of the island, which is a beautiful tourist center, attracting thousands of tourists from around the world. Santorini (Σαντορίνη) is known for its Greek style of life and modern luxury. It is dotted with hotels, bars, restaurants, taverns, clubs, beautiful beaches and is surrounded by crystal clear water.
The name Santorini was given to it by the Latin empire in the 13th century.
Among the sightseeings which must see during your stay there are:
* Lover's beach - located near Akrotiri about 12 km from Fira;
* Beaches in Kamari, Armeni, Perissa and Kokkini (aka Kokkini Paralia);
* The monastery of Profitis Ilias - the highest point of the island;
* Sunset in Oia;
* Fortress Pyrgos;

The island is the site of the Minoan eruption (one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the history), which occurred about 3600 years ago. Santorini has survived after that explosion and what remains today is chiefly a water-filled caldera.
Santorini's airport is one of the few on the Cyclades Islands and is about 6 km southeast of downtown Thira.
Santorini is considered one of the most beautiful islands in Greece and it is in the top 3 islands of Greece in our opinion.
